Denmark healthcare access hindered by uncertainty and costs

Recent surveys in Denmark highlight growing barriers to accessing essential healthcare services. A study conducted by YouGov for Gjensidige reveals that four out of ten Danes have avoided seeking medical attention over the last five years despite feeling a need. The primary reason cited by nearly half of these individuals was uncertainty regarding whether their symptoms were serious enough to warrant a doctor's visit.

In a separate study by Godt Smil Tandlægerne, financial constraints are identified as a major obstacle to dental care. In the Zealand Region (Region Sjælland), 44.4 percent of citizens reported avoiding necessary dental treatment due to economic reasons, even when experiencing pain or cavities. Furthermore, 10.4 percent of residents in the region have had to borrow money to cover dental expenses within the last five years. The data indicates that younger Danes, specifically those aged 16 to 34, are more likely to borrow funds to pay for dental procedures.
