Denmark healthcare: Wait times rise for non-acute medical calls
New data from Region Midtjylland indicates that while acute calls to the medical helpline are being answered within target times, other types of calls are experiencing delays. The region aims for 70 percent of non-acute calls to be answered within 15 minutes, but currently, only 68 percent meet this threshold. The average response time for these calls is 12 minutes and 48 seconds, nearly a minute longer than the region's acceptable limit.
In Varde Municipality, a new welfare technology solution is being implemented to improve medication distribution through video consultations. Developed in collaboration with the Danish Patient Safety Authority, the pilot project at Samstyrken allows staff to dispense medication via video calls with healthcare professionals. This method aims to provide faster assistance to citizens, increase patient safety, and reduce medicine waste caused by pre-dosed medication being discarded after four weeks of non-use.
