Stockholm shooting: Woman killed at Älvsjö sports facility

A 25-year-old woman has died following a shooting at the Kämpetorpshallarna sports complex in Älvsjö, southern Stockholm. The incident occurred on a Friday evening while hundreds of young people were present at the facility for floorball and football matches.

Police confirmed that the shooting took place in a different hall from where the matches were being held. The victim, who worked for the Stockholm municipality in youth services, was shot on an upper level of the facility. Authorities have since reclassified the investigation from attempted murder to murder.

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with the killing. Reports indicate the suspects may have traveled from Gothenburg and do not appear to have a direct connection to the victim. Investigators are exploring potential motives related to gang activity, noting that a relative of the victim had previously been linked to criminal circles.

Local officials have activated crisis support for the children and young people who were in the area at the time of the attack. Hammarby Fotboll, which was involved in a youth football activity at the site, also expressed condolences to the victim and her family.
