Denso Manufacturing Czech opens largest solar carport in Czech Republic
Denso Manufacturing Czech has implemented the largest solar carport in the Czech Republic at its facility in Liberec. The installation consists of approximately 2,700 solar panels providing covered parking for up to 500 vehicles.
Managed by ČEZ ESCO, the project utilizes a financing model where the manufacturer acquired the installation for a symbolic one koruna and will repay the investment over ten years through electricity consumption costs. The solar carport is expected to generate around two gigawatts of electricity annually, covering roughly 4% to 5% of the factory's energy needs. When combined with an existing 1.8 MWp photovoltaic plant, the renewable energy sources will cover nearly 10% of the plant's total consumption.
The facility also includes 14 charging stations for electric vehicles. The structure was designed to withstand local climatic conditions, including heavy snow loads. Denso Manufacturing Czech President Akihiko Kakiuchi noted that the renewable energy integration helps reduce production costs and the facility's carbon footprint.
