Solar energy infrastructure expansion in Czech Republic
Overview
Large-scale solar energy installations are being implemented across various sectors in the Czech Republic.
In Prague, the Public Transit Company completed the country’s largest Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) power plant at the Kačerov depot. The project utilizes a vertical solar facade on a ten-story administrative building to generate electricity for the building and the Prague metro traction network. Supported by European Union subsidies, the investment is projected to yield significant long-term savings.
In Liberec, Denso Manufacturing Czech launched the largest solar carport in the Czech Republic. The installation features approximately 2,700 solar panels providing covered parking for up to 500 vehicles. Managed by ČEZ ESCO, the project is expected to generate around two gigawatts of electricity annually, contributing to nearly 10% of the factory’s total energy consumption when combined with existing photovoltaic plants.
