Dental health initiatives and statistics reported in Germany

In Germany, initiatives and data regarding pediatric dental health have highlighted both educational efforts and gaps in preventive care. In the Goslar district, specifically in Langelsheim, approximately 200 preschool and primary school children participated in a dental health event. The program used magic shows featuring a performer named Jella to teach proper tooth brushing techniques using toothbrushes instead of magic wands.

In Lübeck, data from AOK Nordwest revealed that only 60.3 percent of insured children and adolescents aged six to 17 utilized free dental check-ups. Reinhard Wunsch, AOK Service Region Manager, noted that there is significant room for improvement in dental prevention. He emphasized that early dental care is crucial to prevent cavities and jaw misalignments, noting that statutory health insurance covers individual prophylaxis twice a year for children starting from age six.
