Deoghar hospital inauguration aims to boost medical tourism
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has inaugurated the 750-bed Baba Baidyanath Medical Trust Hospital in Deoghar, Jharkhand. The facility is a joint initiative between the Baba Baidyanath Medical Trust and the P. D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre.
Sarma stated that Deoghar, which is already a known spiritual tourism hub, is expected to emerge as a center for medical tourism. He noted that the hospital is designed to provide advanced healthcare services to middle-income and economically weaker sections, emphasizing that the mission is public service rather than profit-making.
Future plans for the site include the establishment of a medical college. Sarma highlighted the growing infrastructure in the Deoghar and Godda regions, which now includes an airport, AIIMS, railway connectivity, and a ring road, noting that the new hospital will complement existing institutions like AIIMS Deoghar.
