Depok health officials increase surveillance amid rising respiratory infections

The Depok City Health Office has increased surveillance following a surge in Acute Respiratory Infection (ISPA) cases, suspected to be caused by volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.

Data reported via the Ministry of Health's RI DHIS2 application shows a significant rise in respiratory issues. Reported cases climbed from 281 on September 7, 2026, to 1,619 on September 8, before reaching 1,435 on September 9. Health officials are monitoring indoor air quality and tracking developments to protect vulnerable populations from fine volcanic particles.
