Depok murder suspect Saepul linked to online gay groups and former chocolate‑banana vendor
Police have named 26‑year‑old Saepullah (known as Saepul) as the suspect in the July 2026 murder and mutilation of a 51‑year‑old man in Depok, Indonesia. Digital investigations revealed that Saepul was active in several Facebook groups for gay men, posting introductions such as “Salam kenal semuanya, nyari bapak angkat” and sharing personal details in groups named Bapak Bapak Ganteng, Gay Paneglang, Gay Bogor and Gay Depok.
Before his arrest, Saepul worked at a small UMKM that sold fried chocolate‑banana snacks (piscok) near Stasiun Pondok Cina. The shop owner said Saepul joined the business about one to one‑and‑a‑half months before resigning. He took leave on 22 July 2026 for a job interview at a mall food court and quit on 23 July, the same day media reports place the murder. The owner noted Saepul showed no abnormal behavior while on the job and urged customers not to fear the product.
The case has drawn public attention to Saepul’s online activity and his brief employment, though authorities focus on the homicide investigation.
