Depok Murder and Mutilation Case: Suspect Saepul Arrested After Body Found in Sack
Police in Depok, Indonesia, discovered a dismembered male body wrapped in a black plastic bag and a rice sack on 4 August 2026 in the Tanah Merah area of Pancoran Mas. Residents initially thought the sack contained trash; a witness burned it, revealing human remains. The victim was identified as 51‑year‑old Kunaefi, a resident of Bojong, Pondok Terong.
Investigators traced the crime to a suspect known as Saepul (also reported as Saepullah or Saepul), a 26‑year‑old man who had met the victim through social media and stayed in a rented house in Cipayung. The suspect allegedly stabbed Kunaefi during an altercation, mutilated the body by removing the legs at the thigh, and disposed of the remains in the sack while discarding the legs in a nearby stream.
The Sub‑directorate of Mobile Criminal Investigation (Subdit Resmob) of Polda Metro Jaya captured Saepul as he attempted to flee to Pandeglang, Banten, on 5 August 2026. He is now in police custody pending further investigation.
