Derek Kutesa transfer to Servette stalls over financial terms

The transfer of Swiss winger Derek Kutesa from AEK Athens to Servette FC has stalled due to unexpected financial disagreements. Although Kutesa successfully passed his medical examinations in Geneva, the deal hit a standstill when he arrived at the club offices to sign a contract, only to find no agreement ready for signature.

Servette's sporting director, John Williams, stated that while Kutesa remains their primary target, the club is re-evaluating its offer. Servette is reportedly seeking to reduce the transfer fee from an initial agreement of approximately €1 million to €500,000. The club is also proposing a three-year contract instead of the previously discussed long-term deal.

AEK Athens coach Marco Nikolić suggested that Kutesa might remain with the club if the transfer fails. Meanwhile, FC Sion has expressed interest in the player, adding further complexity to the negotiations. Kutesa's agent, Paul Bollentorf, expressed surprise at the sudden complications, noting that the club had previously initiated the contact and all procedures seemed to be progressing normally.
