Derek O'Brien questioned in Kolkata Camac Street case

Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien appeared at the Shakespeare Sarani police station in Kolkata to face questioning regarding the Camac Street incident. The case involves allegations of obstructing Kolkata Municipal Corporation officials from removing an unauthorized billboard at the main office of MP Abhishek Banerjee.

O'Brien had previously requested more time via email after skipping an initial appearance. Following a fresh summons served at his residence, he reported to the station for questioning. Additionally, Sumit Roy, an aide to Abhishek Banerjee, has also been summoned by authorities.

Legal representatives for Abhishek Banerjee have raised concerns regarding the accessibility of the First Information Report (FIR), noting it has not been uploaded to the city police website. Separately, fire and emergency services officials conducted a fire safety audit at the Camac Street office, identifying certain deviations in safety measures.
