Derventa and Brod liberation anniversaries commemorated by veterans

Veterans gathered in the Zborište settlement, located on the border of Derventa and Brod, to mark the 34th anniversary of the liberation of Derventa and the beginning of the battle for Brod. Historical accounts noted that Derventa was liberated on September 29, 1992, followed by Brod on October 7, 1992.

The commemoration highlighted the strategic importance of the Obodni canal, where the First Osinja Light Infantry Brigade launched an assault that allowed subsequent infantry and armored units to advance toward Brod. During these battles, several individuals, including Novak Brkić and Mara Milanković Daradan, sustained injuries. The event also honored fallen comrades, such as medic Toda Đurić.

Čedo Vujičić, president of the Boračka organizacija Derventa, stated that the group intends to continue gathering every last Sunday of September to honor these events, which he described as vital for Derventa, Brod, Posavina, and Republika Srpska.
