Desert Technologies and CTS Group form joint venture for AI data centers
Desert Technologies (DT) and the Swiss-based CTS Group have signed a joint venture agreement to establish ‘CTS-DT’. The new company will focus on designing, building, and developing advanced data center solutions optimized for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, targeting markets in Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Announced during the LEAP 2026 technology conference in Riyadh, the venture aims to achieve an initial annual production capacity of 300 megawatts within Saudi Arabia. The long-term strategy includes scaling this capacity up to 1.2 gigawatts per year. The project is intended to support the growing demand for AI-related computing power while enhancing local content and transferring advanced technical expertise to the Saudi market.
Desert Technologies CEO Khalid Ahmed Sharbatly stated that the agreement is a significant step toward building an advanced digital infrastructure ecosystem in the Kingdom. The initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 to develop the digital economy and establish the country as a regional hub for technology and AI.
