Desktop GPU shipments reach four-year high
Desktop graphics card shipments reached a four-year high in the second quarter of 2026. According to data from Jon Peddie Research (JPR), approximately 12.5 million dedicated desktop GPUs were shipped globally, representing a 5.9 percent increase from the previous quarter and a 7.8 percent increase year-over-year.
Nvidia continues to dominate the market with an estimated 90 percent market share, accounting for roughly 11.25 million of the shipped units. AMD holds approximately 8 percent of the market, while Intel's Arc graphics cards account for about 2 percent.
The surge in sales is attributed to a pull-forward effect, as buyers anticipate potential price increases driven by global tensions and geopolitical instability. This trend comes despite high current pricing for graphics hardware.
