Global PC GPU and hardware market trends 2026

In the second quarter of 2026, global consumer PC GPU shipments reached 75.5 million units, marking a 10.4% increase from the previous quarter. This growth was primarily fueled by the mobile segment, with notebook GPU shipments rising 16.8%, while the desktop GPU market saw a decline of 4%.

Market analysis indicates that Intel holds a 56% market share, largely due to integrated graphics. In the dedicated GPU segment, NVIDIA remains a leader, while AMD holds 21% of the total market. Despite rising component costs caused by memory shortages, discrete GPU shipments grew by 12.2% quarter-over-quarter, likely due to preemptive purchasing ahead of expected price hikes.

In the United States, PC shipments grew 1.0% year-over-year to 18.8 million units, following a 7.0% decline in the first quarter. This growth is attributed to retailers increasing inventory ahead of anticipated price hikes driven by memory and storage supply constraints. For the first time, average selling prices in the US exceeded $1,000, a 12.0% year-over-year increase. This reflects a shift toward premiumization: shipments of PCs priced above $1,500 rose by 36.8%, while entry-level systems below $699 declined by 6.5%. AI-capable PCs accounted for 48.3% of US shipments.

Market competition in the US saw Apple shipments increase 32.1% year-over-year, securing third place and a 29.4% consumer market share, surpassing Lenovo. Conversely, Dell and HP shipments declined by 8.8% and 3.7%, respectively. Despite Q2 growth, Omdia forecasts a 10.7% decline in total US PC shipments for 2026, with an 18.4% drop predicted for the second half of the year.
