Detran-RJ employees launch indefinite strike
Detran-RJ employees have initiated an indefinite strike, demanding career restructuring and improved employee valuation. The strike, approved by the Sindetran-RJ union, primarily impacts vehicle and driver's license services. To mitigate disruptions, the agency has extended deadlines for vehicle services and allowed users to return to service units within five business days of normalization without new appointments. Electronic exams canceled during the strike must be rescheduled by users without additional fees.
In contrast to the vehicle and licensing disruptions, identity card issuance remains operational as these services are handled by outsourced teams. Previously, Detran-RJ had implemented measures to facilitate identity card issuance for students preparing for the Enem and other entrance exams, offering walk-in service without appointments at all civil identification units in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Detran-RJ stated it is requiring the union to comply with legislation mandating the maintenance of at least 30% of the workforce during the strike.
