Detran services resume in Rio de Janeiro after strike ends
The Rio de Janeiro State Transit Department (Detran-RJ) has resumed normal operations following a strike by employees that began on October 7. The strike was suspended on Friday, October 23, following decisions by the Sindetran-RJ union.
To mitigate the impact of the service disruption, Detran-RJ announced that vehicle owners who missed the 30-day legal deadline for vehicle transfers due to the strike will be exempt from fines. This exemption applies to both individuals who had existing appointments that were interrupted and those who attempted to schedule services but were unable to secure a slot during the work stoppage.
Regarding driver licensing, candidates are advised to consult their driving schools for the status of practical exams. Electronic exams that were canceled during the strike must be rescheduled by users without additional fees.
