Detroit Lions Release Cornerback Terrion Arnold Amid Legal Trouble

The Detroit Lions cut first‑round pick Terrion Arnold after he was arrested on four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. Arnold, selected 24th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, had started 22 of 24 games but recorded only one interception before his legal issues halted his career.

Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard told the media the release was not a "setback" for the team, saying calling it such would be disrespectful to the players still in the locker room. Head coach Dan Campbell said the Lions are satisfied with their current cornerback options, including D.J. Reed and Rock Ya‑Sin, and will move forward without Arnold. As of a month after his release, Arnold remains unsigned.
