Detroit Rocket Classic attracts world No. 7 Gotterup and debuts youth golf‑tech expo

The Rocket Classic, a PGA Tour event held at Detroit Golf Club, will stage its final edition in 2026. World No. 7 Chris Gotterup confirmed his participation, joining a field that includes Cameron Young, Russell Henley and other top‑ranked players. The tournament runs July 30‑August 2 and marks the last time the event will be hosted at the Detroit venue.

In conjunction with the tournament, organizers held the first Youth Golf and Tech Expo on July 22. Partnering Black Tech Saturdays with the Rocket Classic, the expo offered around 100 Black middle‑school and college‑bound students hands‑on golf practice and technology workshops, including robotics and game‑development stations. Participants received mentorship and scholarship information, with several securing full‑ride offers to study engineering.
