Deutsch Tamás condemns Tisza party, warns against Brussels‑driven migration pact

Deutsch Tamás, a Fidesz Member of the European Parliament, told supporters at the party’s restructuring congress that the 1989 regime change, in which Fidesz took part, should not be confused with the election defeat on 12 April. He described members of the Tisza party as “leftovers from Fidesz” and said the current government welcomes Brussels pressure rather than resisting it. Deutsch warned that the EU is pursuing assimilation, demanding full surrender of national sovereignty, and urged the government to protect Hungarians by rejecting a “catastrophic migration pact.” He called for community‑building within the party and warned that self‑flagellation hampers the political fight.

The remarks reflect ongoing internal criticism of the opposition Tisza party and a broader scepticism toward EU influence on Hungary’s migration policy.
