Deutsche Bahn expands bodycam use to station staff

Deutsche Bahn is expanding the use of bodycams to its station service and station management staff. Approximately 2,700 employees will have the voluntary option to wear the cameras as part of their personal protective equipment.

Initial deployment has already begun at major stations in Frankfurt am Main and Bielefeld. Employees will receive training before using the devices. The company aims for the cameras to serve a de-escalating function in conflict situations and to provide better protection for staff following an increase in assaults.

Bodycams are already in use by train personnel in both regional and long-distance services. This expansion follows previous announcements regarding the equipping of approximately 2,000 long-distance employees and roughly 1,400 regional train conductors.
