Deutsche Bahn introduces supervised travel for children

Deutsche Bahn is reintroducing a supervised travel service for children called ‘DB Junior Express’. Starting August 21, children aged six to 14 can travel alone on selected long-distance ICE connections on Fridays and Sundays.

Under this service, up to 14 children per connection will be accompanied by pedagogically trained staff. The staff will supervise the children and provide age-appropriate activities such as books, games, and crafts. To ensure safety, children are handed over at a central meeting point at the departure station and personally delivered to designated pickup persons at the destination.

The initial rollout includes specific routes between Berlin and Munich, Munich and Cologne, and Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg. The service costs 69 euros per child per trip, which includes a seat reservation but excludes the actual child ticket. Bookings can be made via the Deutsche Bahn website or the DB Navigator app starting August 12, provided they are made at least 24 hours before departure.
