Deutsche Bahn makes family ticket a permanent offering

Deutsche Bahn has announced that its family ticket, previously a temporary summer offer, will now become a permanent fixture for long-distance travel. The ticket is available for booking starting October 26, with travel valid from November 1.

For 99.99 euros, the ticket covers a round trip in second class on IC or ICE trains for up to five people, including seat reservations. The pricing structure allows for combinations such as one adult (aged 15 or older) with up to four children, or two adults with up to three children. A single one-way trip is priced at 59.99 euros.

The decision follows significant criticism directed at the company after it abolished the previous family reservation system in mid-2025. The new permanent ticket aims to address passenger dissatisfaction by including reservations in the base price. According to a company spokesperson, the ticket will be offered with high availability, though it may sell out on heavily booked connections.
