Deutsche Krebshilfe awards €4.8‑6 million to German cancer centers

The Deutsche Krebshilfe confirmed continued funding for the Mitteldeutsche Krebszentrum, a joint centre of the University Hospital Leipzig and University Hospital Jena. The foundation will provide €4.8 million for the 2024‑2027 period, supporting more than 24,000 cancer patients annually and a network of over 140 partners. "Das ist für uns die höchste Anerkennung unserer Arbeit", said Florian Lordick, director of the Leipzig centre.

The foundation also approved a new grant for the Comprehensive Cancer Center Allianz Würzburg/Erlangen/Regensburg/Augsburg (CCC WERA). The award exceeds €6 million for 2027‑2030, reinforcing cross‑site research, clinical trials and infrastructure across the four Bavarian and Upper‑Franconian sites.
