Deutsche Krebshilfe awards €4.8‑6 million to German cancer centers

The Deutsche Krebshilfe confirmed continued funding for the Mitteldeutsche Krebszentrum, a joint centre of the University Hospital Leipzig and University Hospital Jena. The foundation will provide €4.8 million for the 2024‑2027 period, supporting more than 24,000 cancer patients annually and a network of over 140 partners. "Das ist für uns die höchste Anerkennung unserer Arbeit", said Florian Lordick, director of the Leipzig centre.

The foundation also approved a new grant for the Comprehensive Cancer Center Allianz Würzburg/Erlangen/Regensburg/Augsburg (CCC WERA). The award exceeds €6 million for 2027‑2030, reinforcing cross‑site research, clinical trials and infrastructure across the four Bavarian and Upper‑Franconian sites. "Die erneute Förderung ... ein starkes Signal", said Prof. Dr. Tobias Pukrop, director of CCC Ostbayern.
