DHL Group posts strong Q2 results, raises EBIT outlook, expands buyback
DHL Group reported a 13% year‑on‑year increase in second‑quarter revenue to €22.4 billion, driven by higher volumes in its Express division and limited air‑freight capacity. Operating profit (EBIT) rose 30% to €1.86 billion and net profit attributable to shareholders reached €1.01 billion, up 23.9%. Free cash flow climbed to €569 million, more than 70% above the prior year.
The board expanded the share‑buyback programme by €500 million, raising total authorization to €6.5 billion and extending the plan to the end of 2027. The company also lifted its full‑year EBIT guidance to above €6.5 billion, up from a previous target of over €6.2 billion.
Growth was led by DHL Express, where shipment weight per day grew 9% and EBIT for the unit surged 64.3% thanks to tighter capacity and fuel‑cost pass‑through. DHL warned that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and evolving EU customs rules could affect future operations, and noted a refund from U.S. customs that boosted cash flow. The group continues to invest in digitalisation, life‑sciences logistics and a new battery‑logistics centre in the Netherlands.
