Deutschlandticket price to rise to €66.80 in 2027

The price of Germany’s nationwide Deutschlandticket will increase to €66.80 per month starting January 1, 2027. This decision was made by the Deutschlandticket Coordination Council, which includes representatives from federal and state transport ministries, municipal associations, and the transport industry.

This marks the first time the fare adjustment has been determined by an automated cost-based formula rather than through direct political negotiation. The new price index accounts for rising operational expenses, specifically focusing on personnel and energy costs. This mechanism is intended to provide long-term financial clarity and prevent annual political disputes over funding.

In addition to the standard ticket, discounted versions will also see price increases: the Jobticket will rise to €63.46, and the student Semesterticket will increase to €40.08. The Deutschlandticket, which is used by approximately 14.5 million people, has seen several price adjustments since its launch in 2023, when it originally cost €49 per month.
