Devesh Thakur assists Maharashtra pilgrims stranded by Nepal floods

Sitamarhi MP Devesh Chandra Thakur has gained social media attention for speaking fluent Marathi to assist pilgrims from Maharashtra who were stranded by devastating floods in Nepal.

Following the floods, over 100 pilgrims crossed the Bhithamod border into Bihar. The district administration provided the group with food, water, and shelter before arranging for their transport to Nagpur via Patna. Thakur, a JD(U) representative, used his command of the Marathi language to reassure the travelers during the crisis.

Thakur’s fluency is attributed to his long-standing ties to Maharashtra, including his education in Pune at Fergusson College and ILS Law College, as well as his history in student politics at Savitribai Phule Pune University.
