Turkey celebrates 103rd anniversary of Republic Day with nationwide festivities
Turkey marked the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic with widespread celebrations, ceremonies, and cultural events across numerous provinces.
In major cities and districts, festivities included torchlight processions, parades, and large-scale concerts. In Trabzon, Artvin, Gümüşhane, and Ordu, citizens marched with torches and Turkish flags. Kuşadası hosted a parade featuring a 250-meter-long Turkish flag, while Ankara held a special concert in the Turkish World theme, bringing together 400 artists from across the Turkic world.
Local authorities and officials participated in various official ceremonies. In Adıyaman, Batman, Osmaniye, and Sivas, governors and mayors led wreath-laying ceremonies and addressed the public, emphasizing the importance of national unity and the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. In Düzce, the municipality organized a surprise celebration on public buses, where a band performed national anthems for commuters.
Political leaders also issued messages of solidarity. In Gaziantep, the IYI Party provincial chairman called for unity, while in Balıkesir, the Metropolitan Mayor highlighted the city's historical role in the national resistance. The celebrations spanned various sectors, including sports, music, and local community gatherings, reflecting the national significance of the holiday.
