Dhaka authorities arrest suspects in Radda health centre demolition
Authorities in Dhaka have arrested several individuals in connection with the vandalism, looting, and demolition of the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur. A court recently sent six additional suspects to jail, bringing the total number of arrests related to the health facility's demolition to 12.
According to case statements, attackers scaled the facility's boundary wall at midnight, using hammers, sticks, and heavy machinery to demolish buildings used by doctors and family planning services. The group allegedly assaulted night guards and looted medical supplies, an ultrasonography machine, computers, and various electronic equipment.
In a related incident involving attacks on New Gini Properties and the studio of content creator Salman Muqtadir, police have arrested six people. Investigators believe the attack on the property may have stemmed from a land dispute involving retired army officer Golam Mohiuddin Chowdhury, who is currently being investigated as a potential mastermind. While several arrests have been made in both the health centre and property attacks, police noted that the principal instigators remain at large.
