Dhaka on high alert after multiple crude bomb explosions

Multiple crude bomb explosions, locally referred to as cocktail bombs, occurred across several districts in Dhaka on Friday. The blasts were reported in Malibagh, Agargaon, Jatrabari, Mohakhali, Moghbazar, Babubazar, Rampura, and near Dhaka College and the Science Laboratory.

In Agargaon, an explosion took place in front of the state-run radio station, Bangladesh Betar. Near the Malibagh level crossing, bombs were reportedly thrown from a three-storey flyover onto the main road. In Jatrabari, explosions were heard near the entrance of the local police station, resulting in at least one injury.

Additionally, a parked bus was set on fire in front of the Kafrul police station. In response to the unrest, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police have placed the capital on high alert, establishing over 200 checkpoints on major thoroughfares and increasing patrols and vehicle inspections throughout the city.
