DHL Freight deploys first SuperPanther electric heavy-duty truck in Netherlands

DHL Freight has introduced its first SuperPanther eTopas 600 battery-electric heavy-duty truck into its Dutch transport network. The vehicle, which is produced in Europe by the Chinese manufacturer SuperPanther, entered regular commercial operation in September 2026.

The electric truck is designed for medium-haul transportation, offering a range of up to 500km per charge. It is being deployed flexibly across various routes within the Netherlands and for cross-border services to Belgium, rather than being restricted to a single terminal or fixed shuttle service. The vehicle currently covers approximately 2,000km per week.

This deployment follows extensive trials in Austria and aims to provide DHL Freight with practical insights into integrating heavy-duty electric vehicles into existing logistics structures and cross-border operations. Arjan van Weelden, carrier and sustainability manager at DHL Freight, noted that the vehicle meets deployment requirements and has received positive feedback from drivers.
