Dhoho International Airport to serve as Hajj embarkation site by 2027

The Kediri Regency Government is preparing Dhoho International Airport to serve as a Hajj embarkation point starting in 2027. As part of the readiness testing, the airport is scheduled to begin handling Umrah departures in November 2026.

To ensure smooth operations, a cross-sector task force will be formed, involving the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah, local government officials, Surya Dhoho Investama (SDI), airlines such as Garuda Indonesia, and travel agencies.

In support of this initiative, the Kediri Regency Government has allocated 59,307 square meters of land in Kalipang Village for the construction of a Hajj hotel. Additionally, authorities are working to improve accessibility to the airport, including land acquisition processes for a toll road.
