Diagonale des Fous ultra-trail race approaches in Réunion

The Diagonale des Fous ultra-trail race is set to begin on October 15 in Saint-Pierre, Réunion. The event features approximately 3,000 participants from 122 nations competing across roughly 180 kilometers with over 10,000 meters of positive elevation gain.

Despite its status as a major international ultra-trail monument, the winner's prize is 1,500 euros. This figure stands in stark contrast to other major races like the UTMB, where the winner receives 20,000 euros, highlighting the unique economic model of the Grand Raid.

To support the athletes, Intersport has established a ‘Base Camp’ in Hell-Bourg within the Salazie Cirque. In partnership with Nike’s All Conditions Gear (ACG), this temporary station serves as a preparation hub for runners facing the island's extreme humidity, heat, and steep terrain.
