Diana Morant to Formalize Candidacy for Valencian Presidency in July

The Valencian branch of Spain's Socialist Party (PSPV) plans to announce Diana Morant as its candidate for the Generalitat in July, ahead of the 2027 regional elections. Party leaders say there is unanimous support and intend to open the primary process quickly, with three nomination windows scheduled for July, September and November.

The move comes amid a volatile political climate in the Valencian Community, where a motion of no‑confidence or early elections cannot be ruled out. The PSOE nationally is dealing with a series of judicial investigations and convictions involving senior figures, adding pressure on its electoral strategy. While the centre‑right People's Party (PP) has yet to confirm its candidate, the PSPV hopes Morant’s candidacy will boost its social outreach and strengthen its position ahead of any possible snap election.
