Diego Forlán reviews first tenure as Uruguay manager

Diego Forlán has provided a positive assessment of his initial tenure as the provisional manager of the Uruguay national football team. Following a recent FIFA window, the former striker reported a record of two wins and one loss, including victories over South Korea (4-1) and India (6-1), despite an opening 3-1 defeat to Japan.

Forlán highlighted the performance of Darwin Núñez, who scored against India, and praised the debuts of goalkeeper Thiago Cardozo and defenders Facundo Bernal and Juan Rodríguez. He also addressed the injury to Giorgian de Arrascaeta and discussed the recovery of Federico Valverde, noting that while Valverde's rapid return from injury drew scrutiny from Atlético de Madrid, the player's progress is a positive development.

Regarding veteran striker Luis Suárez, Forlán revealed that while the player was enthusiastic about a potential return, it was determined that a comeback would not be feasible in time for the Copa América.
