Dien Bien Police warn of bank and authority impersonation scams
The Dien Bien Provincial Police have issued a warning regarding criminals impersonating bank officials, government authorities, or service providers to defraud citizens.
Scammers often use accurate personal details to build trust before claiming there are unusual transactions, profile updates required, or legal issues. They may pressure victims to provide passwords, OTP codes, or financial information, or instruct them to click suspicious links and install unauthorized applications under the guise of “identity verification” or “account protection.”
Authorities advise the public to remain calm and verify the caller's identity through official channels. Citizens are urged not to share OTPs, passwords, or banking details, and to avoid installing any software or clicking links provided by unknown callers.
