Dien Bien proposes expanded boarding school investment

The Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has proposed expanding investment in multi-level boarding schools for disadvantaged communes following directives from the Prime Minister. In a report submitted to the central government, the province detailed its efforts to implement social security policies in education, training, and vocational teaching.

For the 2026 school year, the province planned to implement 11 social security policies for over 520,000 beneficiaries, with a total budget of approximately 2.18 trillion VND. While the central government has provided significant funding, the province has also proactively allocated local funds to cover gaps in policies such as preschool education and lunch programs for students in border communes.

Regarding specific local incidents, the province verified reports concerning Vo Nguyen Giap Secondary School in Muong Phang. The school's principal had used social media to call for donations of rice and fuel to support students living far from school who require meals. The provincial authorities confirmed that while the school's fundraising efforts for student meals are legal and appropriate, the province continues to review and report on the implementation of student support policies to the Prime Minister.
