Dieren, Netherlands Holds Saturday Community Festivals on July 4
On Saturday 4 July 2026, the town of Dieren hosted a series of community activities. The ‘Zaterdageditie’ at De Zoomerij ran from 13:00 to 15:30 and offered a ukulele workshop led by musician Tom Janssen, a chess demonstration by members of Schaakvereniging Theotorne, and a screening of the film *Per Te*, which explores love and Alzheimer’s disease. Representatives from Netwerk Dementie Arnhem were present, and participation in the workshop required a €5 fee.
Later that afternoon, Dieren held its first ‘Dierense Ontmoetstoet’ beginning at 14:00 on the Marktplein. The programme included live music by the Dierense Harmonie Orkest, the inaugural ‘Trots op Dieren Award’ for local volunteers, and a group walk to a new viewpoint opening on the Schapenberg at 15:15. The event concluded with a communal drinks reception at Café Het Schilderij at 16:00. Both events were free and organized by a coalition of local associations, schools, businesses and the municipality.
