Italy: Fuel seizures in Vibo Valentia and major fires in Naples
Authorities in Italy have conducted several operations involving fuel irregularities and industrial fires. In the province of Vibo Valentia, the Guardia di Finanza and the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM) seized over 6,400 liters of diesel with a commercial value of approximately 15,500 euros. The seizure occurred at a station in Dasà after tests revealed a flash point of 49.5°C, which is below the legal minimum of 55°C. A 15-cubic-meter tank was also seized, and the case has been reported to the Public Prosecutor for suspected commercial fraud.
In Naples, a large industrial fire broke out in the San Giovanni a Teduccio district on via Brin. The blaze reportedly started in a parking area, affecting a street sweeper and spreading to a warehouse used for storing Chinese goods. A thick column of black smoke was visible across the Gulf of Naples. Local authorities activated the Rescue Coordination Center and advised residents to keep windows and doors closed to avoid inhaling irritants. No injuries were reported.
Additionally, in Arzano, near Naples, a fire destroyed six campers inside a storage facility. Investigators are looking into the cause, including the possibility of arson related to local organized crime.
