Incidents in Vibo Valentia and Naples

Overview

In mid-October 2026, several incidents were reported in Italy. In the province of Vibo Valentia, authorities seized over 6,400 liters of diesel at a station in Dasà after testing showed the fuel’s flash point was below the legal minimum, leading to a report of suspected commercial fraud.

In Naples, a large industrial fire in the San Giovanni a Teduccio district affected a warehouse and a street sweeper, prompting authorities to advise residents to keep windows and doors closed. Nearby in Arzano, a fire destroyed six campers in a storage facility, with investigators considering arson related to organized crime.

By late October, Vibo Valentia experienced a significant gas leak near Piazza San Leoluca and Via Vittorio Veneto. This prompted the evacuation of homes and offices by firefighters and police. Officials are investigating the cause and whether it is connected to a previous gas leak near the ‘Berto’ scientific high school.
