Borsa Italiana indices show progress amid banking sector gains

The banking sector saw general gains, led by Intesa Sanpaolo, which rose 0.7%. This comes as the Italian Antitrust Authority launched a formal investigation into Intesa Sanpaolo’s proposed takeover of Monte dei Paschi di Siena via a public tender and exchange offer.

In contrast, Stellantis saw a decline of 2.01%. The energy sector experienced uncertainty due to fluctuating crude oil prices, with ENI recording a slight drop, while Saipem and Tenaris posted positive performances.
