D’Ieteren Automotive study shows second-hand EVs retain 95.9% battery capacity

An analysis of more than 2,500 batteries conducted by D’Ieteren Automotive’s second-hand divisions, My Way and Audi Approved, shows that modern electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles retain an average battery capacity of 95.9%.

In collaboration with battery diagnostics expert MOBA, the study found that the most significant capacity loss typically occurs during the first few years of use, after which degradation tends to stabilize. Even vehicles with over 100,000 kilometers on the odometer generally maintain a State of Health (SoH) above 90%.

D’Ieteren Automotive is among the first in the Belgian second-hand market to provide battery certificates to buyers. This initiative anticipates upcoming regulations, as the integration of State of Health data into the Car-Pass system is expected to become mandatory by February 2027.
