Digital Bros cancels development of Armed Fantasia

Digital Bros, the parent company of publisher 505 Games, has announced the cancellation of the role-playing game Armed Fantasia: To the End of the Wilderness. The decision was disclosed in a financial report released on September 24, 2026.

Originally positioned as a spiritual successor to the Wild Arms series and involving producer Akifumi Kaneko, the project raised approximately 379 million yen (roughly 2.1 million euros) via Kickstarter in 2022. Despite this significant crowdfunding success, development has been halted. Digital Bros cited several reasons for the cancellation, including unsuccessful attempts to refine the gameplay mechanics, changing market conditions, high additional costs required to reach completion, and a reassessment of progress and market opportunities.

In addition to Armed Fantasia, Digital Bros reported that two other projects, the action RPG Directorate Novitiate and a Battle Island sequel, have also been discontinued. As of the announcement, there has been no official statement from the developer, Wild Bunch Productions, or specific guidance provided to the approximately 18,000 Kickstarter backers regarding the status of their funds.
