Digital literacy and technical education initiatives in Belgium and the Netherlands

Digital literacy and technical education initiatives are being highlighted through various regional programs in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In Retie, Belgium, Digitale Week 2026 will take place from October 6 to 16. The event, themed ‘The Evolution of the Digital World’, offers activities for all ages, including app programming workshops using MIT App Inventor and sessions on using government digital services like MyGov and Mijn Burgerprofiel safely.

In the Netherlands, the organization De Romein-TechforFun, part of the Winkler Prins school community, received a donation of technical tools from Techkwadraat to mark its 12.5-year anniversary. This donation aims to support technical workshops and practical assignments for primary school students. Techkwadraat is a national program supported by the Dutch ministries of OCW and EZK to promote technical education and equal opportunities for children.
