Digital literacy and technology initiatives launch in Northern Germany

New digital literacy and technology initiatives are launching in Northern Germany. NDR and various Volkshochschulen (adult education centers) are starting a free online course series on October 8, 2026. Titled ‘Auf Kurs bleiben’, the initiative aims to promote media competence and democracy education through monthly Zoom sessions covering topics such as disinformation, AI-generated fakes, and algorithms.

Simultaneously, the city of Nordhorn is hosting its second ‘Digitaltage’ from October 7 to 9, 2026. This hands-on event offers free workshops across three locations, targeting students, entrepreneurs, and seniors. Activities include exploring virtual reality, building AI assistants, and discussing digital agriculture and social media tools.
