Digital platforms and quick-commerce reshape global beauty markets

The beauty and personal care markets in Australia and India are undergoing significant shifts driven by digital platforms, social media, and quick-commerce.

In Australia, the online beauty market is projected to grow 47 per cent to $2.2 billion by 2030. Marketplaces are increasingly competing with traditional retailers; Amazon’s share of the Australian online beauty market rose to 19.9 per cent, with sales increasing by $66.7 million year on year. Consumers are showing a high willingness to switch brands for the sake of convenience and availability on their preferred channels. Additionally, social media plays a critical role in product discovery, with nearly half of beauty buyers more likely to purchase following creator recommendations.

In India, beauty and personal care sales on quick-commerce platforms are approaching an annualized run rate of $1 billion, serving over 30 million monthly shoppers. This channel now accounts for approximately 5 per cent of India’s beauty market. Brands like SUGAR Cosmetics are adapting to these trends by integrating creator-led content and quick-commerce to capture impulse purchases and gifting opportunities during festive seasons.
