Digital technology drives 24/7 business growth in Spain

Digitalization, automation, and artificial intelligence are transforming traditional commercial hours, enabling businesses to operate 24/7. This shift responds to consumer demands for immediacy and flexibility, allowing companies to manage orders, payments, and deliveries automatically even outside standard working hours.

In Spain, the National Statistics Institute (INE) reported that 59.6% of the population aged 16 to 74 purchased goods online in the three months preceding a 2025 survey, marking a 2.9 percentage point increase from the previous year. Additionally, the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) stated that e-commerce turnover in Spain reached 114.8 billion euros in 2025, a 20.6% increase compared to the prior year.

This evolution is moving from purely online storefronts to physical retail models, such as autonomous stores using digital identification and cameras, to meet the needs of consumers whose schedules do not align with conventional business hours.
