Digital trends shift toward authenticity amid social media fatigue

A shift in digital consumption is emerging as audiences express growing fatigue with highly curated social media personas. Experts and creators suggest that the era of idealized, artificial content is facing a decline in favor of authenticity.

Psychologist Lara Ferreiro notes that the constant pursuit of online validation creates a cycle of anxiety. This phenomenon, often called the ‘tyranny of happiness,’ pressures individuals to project constant joy, leading to a disconnect between their digital image and their actual emotional state. This reliance on external approval through likes and views can negatively impact self-esteem.

Parallel to this, the influencer model is undergoing a transformation. Recent discussions, including statements from creator Fabiana Sevillano, highlight a saturation point where audiences are rejecting repetitive formats and excessive ‘postureo’ (posing). Rather than the disappearance of influencers, the trend indicates a demand for more genuine connections and less artificiality in digital content.
