Digvijay Singh begins 950-km foot pilgrimage from Ujjain to Ayodhya

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh has launched the ‘Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’, a 950-kilometer foot pilgrimage starting from Ujjain. The journey is scheduled to last approximately 70 days, with the goal of reaching the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The itinerary involves walking roughly 15 kilometers per day through various districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, including Rajgarh, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, and Lucknow.

Singh stated that the purpose of the yatra is to address issues regarding transparency in temple management, specifically concerning offerings, incidents of gold theft, and general administrative arrangements at religious sites. He emphasized that the march is not being conducted for political gain.

The pilgrimage features a special chariot decorated with idols of Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman, along with water from five sacred rivers. Organizers reported that approximately 3,000 people participated on the first day. While the total budget for the 70-day journey is estimated between 30 to 40 lakh rupees, Singh noted that many local supporters have voluntarily arranged for food and lodging along the route.
